Display powers on but has no image
A safe sequence of external checks when the display responds to power but the screen remains black, the image appears briefly or only the backlight is visible.
Limits of user checks
Without disassembly, you can check the selected source, external cables, OPS computer and screen illumination. Internal measurements and checks of the backlight, T-CON and LCD panel must be performed by a qualified technician.
Record the exact symptom
- Whether the indicator changes after power-on and whether a startup sound is heard.
- Whether the screen glows evenly in a dark room or remains completely dark.
- Whether a logo, menu or image appears even for a few seconds.
- Whether the image is missing on every source: built-in system, OPS computer and external HDMI.
- Whether there are lines, distortion, half an image or visible mechanical screen damage.
Checks without disassembly
- Use the Source or Input button to select the built-in system and each external input in turn.
- Disconnect the display from power for 10 minutes, remove external USB devices and try again.
- Test the HDMI cable and source on another working screen, or connect a known-good source to the display.
- If an OPS computer is installed in an accessible slot, remove or install it only with power fully disconnected and according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Record a short startup video in both a lit and dark room so the indicator and screen surface are visible.
Units checked during diagnostics
- Signal source, cable, input interface or OPS computer.
- Main board, system startup and video-signal generation.
- Backlight power supply, LED driver and LED strips.
- T-CON, LCD power rails, ribbon cables and the LCD panel.
When to stop testing
Do not power the display on again after a burning smell, clicking, severe flicker, liquid exposure, a cracked LCD panel or an image that appears only after impact or pressure on the case. These symptoms require hardware diagnostics.
Information for the technician
Provide the manufacturer and model, indicator status, whether sound and backlight are present, signal sources tested and when the fault appeared. Attach a rating-label photo and a short startup video.
